5-1-4 ENGINE COOLING FAN LOW-SPEED SIGNALTrouble Code Conditions
- Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) EFI-514 is stored if there is a short-circuit to ground/supply voltage or open-circuit in the engine cooling fan (FC) signal cable.
Substitute value(s)
- Idle air trim disabled.
- Fuel trim disabled.
- Conditions for fuel shut-off changed.
- If engine coolant temperature exceeds +102°C (+216.6°F) the engine cooling fan starts operating at high-speed.
Possible source(s)
Signal too high:
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in signal cable.
- Defective engine cooling fan relay.
Signal too low:
- Short-circuit to ground in signal cable.
Signal missing:
- Defective engine cooling fan relay.
- Open-circuit in signal cable.
- Open-circuit in engine cooling fan relay power cable.
- Short-circuit to ground in high-speed signal cable.
- Contact resistance in terminals.
- Defective engine cooling fan relay.
