Signal Too High

Other Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Read off OTHER DTCs.
- Is diagnostic trouble code (DTC) AT-141 stored?

Yes:
- Proceed to: Fault-tracing Information section below.

No:
- Proceed to: Checking Oil Temperature section below.

Fault-tracing Information
- Fault-trace according to diagnostic trouble code AT-141. Oil temperature sensor. Signal too low.
- Proceed to: Verification section below.

Checking Oil Temperature
- Ignition ON.
- Go into scrolling values.
- Read off transmission oil temperature.
- Check that the transmission oil temperature is within bounds. Compare with the temperature of the transmission itself.
- Is the oil temperature within bounds?

Yes:
- Proceed to: Checking Cables And Terminals. Intermittent Fault section below.

No:
- Proceed to: Checking Oil Temperature Sensor Signal Cable section below.

Checking Oil Temperature Sensor Signal Cable
- Ignition OFF.
- Raise the car to access the transmission.
- Carefully clean round connector B.
- Disconnect transmission connector B.
- Connect an ohmmeter between transmission connector B terminal 3 (transmission side) and transmission housing.
- The ohmmeter should read infinite resistance.

If reading is OK:
- Proceed to: Checking Oil Temperature Sensor Resistance section below.

If reading is incorrect:
- Proceed to: Checking For A Short-circuit And Replacing Component section below.

Checking For A Short-circuit And Replacing Component
- Ignition OFF.
- Check cable between oil temperature sensor and transmission connector B terminal 3 for a short-circuit to ground.
- If the cable is OK, try a new oil temperature sensor.
- Proceed to: Verification section below.

Checking Oil Temperature Sensor Resistance
- Ignition OFF.
- Transmission connector B disconnected.
- Connect an ohmmeter between transmission connector B terminals 3 and 4.

- The ohmmeter should read approx. 765-1035 Ohms at +20°C (68°F), (see table/image).
- Compare the temperature below with the transmission temperature at the oil temperature sensor.
- Is the value correct?

Yes:
- Proceed to: Checking For A Short-circuit section below.

No:
- Proceed to: Replacing Component section below.

Checking For A Short-circuit
- Check cable between transmission connector B terminal 3 and transmission control module # 34 for a short-circuit to ground.
- Proceed to: Verification section below.

Replacing Component
- Ignition OFF.
- Try a new oil temperature sensor.
- Proceed to: Verification section below.

Checking Cables And Terminals. Intermittent Fault
- Check cable between oil temperature sensor and transmission control module (TCM) # 34 for an intermittent short-circuit to ground.
- Proceed to: Checking The Transmission section below.

Checking The Transmission
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect transmission connector.
- The diagnostic trouble code may have been caused by the transmission being subjected to high loads and high temperatures. It is therefore important to change the oil and check the operation of the transmission.
- Change oil.
- Test drive car according to Test Drive Form, to ensure that there are no mechanical faults.
- Does the transmission have any mechanical faults?

Yes:
- Proceed to: Repairing Mechanical Faults section below.

No:
- Proceed to: Fault-tracing Information section below.

Fault-tracing Information
- Transmission is OK.
- Fault corrected.

Repairing Mechanical Faults
- See Table of symptoms for corrective action. If the transmission oil has not already been changed during corrective action, change oil.
- Fault corrected.

Verification
After repairs have been completed they must be verified as follows to ensure that the fault has been eliminated:

- Ignition OFF.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components etc.
- Ignition ON.
- Select scrolling values
- Read off transmission oil temperature.

- Check that the transmission oil temperature is within bounds. Compare with the temperature of the transmission itself.
- Is the oil temperature within bounds?

Yes:
- Fault corrected.

No:
- Proceed to: Fault-tracing Information section below.

Fault-tracing Information
The verification result shows that the fault persists.

- Do you want to exit fault-tracing?

Yes:
- Fault not corrected.

No:
- Proceed to: Other Diagnostic Trouble Codes section above.
