Trouble Code Conditions
- The driving mode selector allows the driver to select from three modes: Winter (W), Economy (E) and Sport (S). The mode selector has two signal cables, MS1 and MS2, and a ground lead. The choice between W, E and S modes is made through the connection of either one or the other, or both signal cables to ground (the signal goes low). Note that MS1 and MS2 signal cables are grounded simultaneously only when the W button is depressed.

- = battery voltage.
o = ground (U low)

- Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) AT-114 is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) registers a high signal (high voltage) in both signal cables simultaneously for at least 25 seconds.

NOTE: This means that the diagnostic trouble code can be stored if the E and S buttons are in a mid-position for longer than 25 seconds.

Substitute value(s)
- The transmission will only operate in Economy mode.

Possible source(s)
- Open-circuit in signal cables or ground lead.
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in signal cable.
- The E and S buttons have been in the "mid-position" for more than 30 seconds.
- Defective mode selector.
- Contact resistance in terminals

Fault symptom(s)
- The transmission operates in driving mode E.
- Start fault tracing. Signal Too High
