Disconnecting connectors





5-door car





4-door car

The top illustration displays the 5-door car, the bottom the 4-door car.

Separate all connectors in the bracket.

Remove the ground point from hatch over fuel gauge sensor.

Remove rubber grommet around electrical wiring.

Caution!
Ensure that no wires are pinched or/and pulled in, when lowering the tank.

Disconnecting hoses





Carefully remove the quick couplings to fuel feed and return line.

Use tool 999 5666. Move the outer sleeve of the coupling upward. Do not pinch the outer sleeve.

Removing filler pipe





Remove filler cap.

Remove lock ring that expands rubber seal.

Release rubber seal from body.

Push rubber boot into wheel well

Release EVAP hose (1) from canister by pressing the lock and pulling out the hose.

Lowering the fuel tank





Place a transmission jack with fixture J-14470-850 under the fuel tank. Strap the fuel tank to the fixture (arrows).

Release the tank strap and lower the tank 100 mm (4.0").

Release hose (1) from the retainer on the right side of the tank.

Release the hose retainer from the bracket by pulling it towards the right side of the car.

Open the front retainer and remove the EVAP hose (2).

Carefully cut off the strip clamp.

Release the hose from the fasteners on the filler pipe.

Lower the tank some more.

Release the hoses from their fasteners at the front edge of the tank.
