Shifter A/T: Adjustments
Gear Selector Mechanism Checking/Adjustment
- Jack up car
- Loosen gear selector arm/control rod nut so that rod is free to move in its slot.
- Move gear selector lever to position P Gently press lever forward to eliminate play and use support to retain lever in position.
Note: Parking brake must not be applied.
- Press selector link (arrow) on transmission backward into position R.
- Check that link is actually in this position by trying to turn propeller shaft.
- Tighten control rod/gear lever arm nut Tighten nut to 25 Nm (18 ft lb).
- Remove support from gear selector lever.
- Check adjustment by moving the gear selector lever to position D. Check for clearance in direction of position N.
- Move lever to position 2. Check for clearance in direction of position L.
