Parts Bulletin
Volvo Cars of North America, Inc., and Volvo Canada Limited have announced a safety recall affecting the throttle housing of certain 1996 and 1997 model year Volvo 850 and 960 series vehicles equipped with naturally-aspirated five (20 valve only) and six cylinder engines. Approximately 12,530 vehicles in the U.S. and 691 vehicles in Canada are affected.Volvo has found that on a small number of affected vehicles, there is a possibility that the screws which attach the throttle plate to its axle (shaft), may in time come loose, resulting in a loose throttle plate. A loose throttle plate, in extreme circumstances, may come in contact with the throttle housing, which may thereby prevent the throttle from returning to idle position.
The part numbers apply as shown.
An initial allocation representing 50% of the vehicles retailed or in stock at your retail facility will be made starting on or about the week of November 4, 1996. After this one time allocation you may order additional quantities using normal ordering procedure.
