Conditions For Code
SRS indicator lamp is actively extinguished by crash sensor and system cannot detect a faulty lamp.

Fault Symptoms
1. SRS lamp lit, indicating code is stored in memory.
2. Lamp does not light when ignition is turned to On position.

Fault Source
1. Short circuit to positive or open circuit in lead between crash sensor (terminal 1) and combined instrument (B:3).
2. Short circuit to ground in lead between crash sensor (terminal 1) and combined instrument (B:3). Defective lamp.

Action
Turn ignition switch to On position and check that lamp lights with other lamps on combined instrument. If lamp lights, proceed to step 1. If lamp does not light, proceed to step 1h.
1. Check lead between crash sensor (terminal 1) and combined instrument (B:3) as follows:
a. Turn ignition switch to Off position, then disconnect battery ground cable.
b. Remove ashtray, cigarette lighter holder and center console retaining screws, then apply handbrake and place gear selector lever in Neutral.
c. Remove handbrake opening cover, then the center console.
d. Remove sensor retaining screw, then lift sensor and disconnect electrical connector.
e. Remove dashboard cover panel, then disconnect electrical connector from combined instrument.
If. Connect an ohmmeter between terminal 1 in crash sensor connector and terminal B:3 in combined instrument connector. Resistance should be 0 ohms. If resistance is infinite, lead is open circuited.
g. Connect ohmmeter between terminal B:3 in combined instrument connector and battery positive. If no fault is present, connect ohmmeter between terminal 1 in crash sensor connector and battery positive. Resistance should be infinite. If resistance is 0 ohms, short circuit to supply is present.
h. Connect ohmmeter between terminal B:3 in combined instrument connector and ground. If no fault is present, connect ohmmeter between terminal 1 in crash sensor connector and ground. Resistance should be infinite. If resistance is 0 ohms, short circuit to ground is present.
2. If no faults are indicated, check SRS indicator lamp bulb, replacing, if necessary.
3. If fault persists, replace crash sensor.
4. If code recurs, check combined instrument printed circuit board, if necessary.
