ADJUSTMENT OF THROTTLE BODY AND PULLEY

Adjustment of Throttle Body
^ Disconnect link.
^ Remove Throttle Body (TB) from intake manifold.
^ Remove Throttle Position (TP) Potentiometer from TB.
^ Clean TB carefully.

^ Slacken adjusting screw so that throttle closes fully.

^ Slacken throttle disc mounting screws slightly.

NOTE: Check that disc is correctly installed i.e. is facing in the right direction. Since edge of disc is thin, careful inspection is necessary to see chamfered edge.

^ Open throttle about one-third using throttle lever.
^ Release throttle lever quickly so that throttle disc centers itself in throat of opening. Hold TB against light and check that gap is even all round.
^ Check that throttle spindle can be moved backward and forward with slight resistance. Adjust spindle until end projects 13.50 mm ± 0.3 mm (0.50 in ± 0.15 in) beyond TB as illustrated.
^ Tighten throttle disc mounting screws to 0.9 Nm (0.5 ft lb).

NOTE: Specified maximum dimension of 13.50 mm ± 0.3 mm (0.50 in ± 0.15 in) must not be exceeded, otherwise spindle may bottom against TP potentiometer.

^ Screw in adjusting screw until it is just in contact with lever.
^ Screw in a further quarter turn.
^ Tighten locknut.

^ Mount TP potentiometer on throttle spindle.
^ Insert and tighten switch mounting screws.

NOTE: TP potentiometer is not adjustable.

^ Mount TB on intake manifold.
^ Reconnect all hoses and leads.

Adjustment of Link, Earlier Version
^ Mount link on TB with "L" mark at body end and "R" mark at pulley end.
^ Insert 2.5 mm feeler gauge at pulley stop.
^ Adjust middle section of link until lever is clear of adjusting screw by 0.3 mm.
^ Tighten link locknuts in this position, first by hand and then with 8 mm wrench. Hold link to ensure that it is does not rotate with nut while tightening.
^ Recheck clearance.
^ Check that:
- 0.5 mm feeler gauge cannot be inserted between lever and adjusting screw
- 0.10 mm feeler gauge can be inserted between lever and adjusting screw.

^ Repeat procedure if clearance is not correct.
^ Remove feeler gauge at throttle pulley stop on completion of adjustment.

Adjustment Of Link, Later Version
^ Slacken link locknut (A) sufficiently to permit link to be separated and to spring back easily to innermost position.
^ Mount link in position.
^ Check that throttle spindle is in contact with adjusting screw (B) and that pulley is seated against idling stop (C).
^ Tighten link locknut (A).
^ Rotate pulley to check that link seats against adjusting screw (B) before pulley seats against idling stop (C).

Check / Adjust Throttle Pulley And Cable
^ Pulley should move easily without sticking.
^ Lubricate with petroleum jelly if needed.
^ Cable should be taut in idling position but must not affect pulley position.
^ Pulley should seat against idling stop.
^ Adjust cable as required.
^ Press Accelerator Pedal (AP) to floor and check that pulley seats against full-load stop.
