Air Injection Pump Relay: Description and Operation

Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System:

PURPOSE
The AIR pump relay allows the ECM to control AIR pump operation.

LOCATION
Left front of engine compartment, near AIR pump. (Remove splash gaurd for access.)

OPERATION
The ECM grounds the relay approximately 20 seconds after engine start-up and maintains a relay ground for 45 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on coolant temperature. Power supply for the relay is direct battery voltage.
