Air Injection Pump: Testing and Inspection
AIR PUMP INSPECTIONA general check should be carried out with the Scan Tool (ST) in Diagnostic Test Mode 3. If this does not indicate a fault and the air pump still does not operate, carry out further checks.
Check Ground Point
^ Check that pump is grounded to ground terminal under the left headlamp.
Air Pump and Relay:
Check Air Pump
^ Raise car and remove front splash guard by removing two screws on each side, then pull splashguard and spoiler forward until the splashguard can be lowered.
^ Undo splashguard from spoiler clips.
^ Disconnect both outer relay connectors.
^ Connect both blue wires.
If the pump now works:
- he problem is probably poor contact in the Air Pump relay connector or Air Pump relay. Replace Air Pump relay.
WARNING: THE PUMP MUST NOT BE RUN FOR MORE THAN TWO MINUTES DUE TO THE RISK OF OVERHEATING.
Relay Ground:
If the Pump Does Not Work
^ If the pump does not work, check that wiring between relay and pump is intact and that there is 12 V and ground in the connector.
^ If there is no current in the connector and the scan tool does not display a DTC, the relay is defective and should be replaced.
^ If the pump does not work despite current and ground the pump is defective and should be replaced.
