Air Injection Pump: Service and Repair

AIR PUMP REPLACEMENT





Removal
^ Remove:
- Battery and battery shelf.
- Air hose to engine.
^ Undo air pump inlet pipe from pump.
^ Raise car.

Air Pump and Relay:

Remove Front Splash Guard if Not Already Removed
^ Disconnect connectors.
^ Undo wiring clamps.
^ Remove three screws.
^ Lower car.





Remove Air Pump
^ Disconnect air hose and ground lead in the terminal under the left headlamp.
^ Remove air pump.





Install Air Pump
^ Install in reverse order.
^ Clamp EGR pipe so that it does not come into contact with air hose.





Check Non-Return Valve
^ Disconnect non-return valve rubber hose and start engine.
^ Check that exhaust gases do not flow back to pump.
^ If exhaust gases flow back to pump the non-return valve is defective and must be replaced.
^ When carrying out this check use compressed air to blow the system clean with the engine running.
