Manual Readouts [CB]

Entering And Reading Codes

- Set selector cable to position 3 on DLC A.

- Switch ignition on. Use buttons to select DTM.

To access a DTM, press the button on DLC A the appropriate number of times (e.g. press once for DTM 1, 4 times for DTM 4).

DTCs are flashed out in order of priority (i.e. the most serious fault is displayed first, followed by less serious faults in descending order of importance). Once the memory is full (up to 10 DTCs), the lowest priority DTC will be overwritten if a new DTC occurs.

DTCs are displayed as three-digit combinations. Each digit is represented by a number of flashes (zero is not used in the ABS/ TRACS system), with a short pause between each of the three digits. When reading out codes, the LED goes out between each digit and then starts flashing again.

Inputs are via three-digit codes made up of the numbers 1 to 9: 3-1-1, for example, is the input signal for basic speed (see DTM 4).

When entering codes, use short (approx. 1 second), firm presses on the buttons. Wait until the LED stays on, enter the first digit, wait again until the LED stays on, enter the second digit, wait until the LED stays on again and enter the third digit.

Diagnostic Test Mode 1 (DTM 1)

Reading Out Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCS)

- Switch ignition on.

- Select position 3 on DLC A.

- Push button once, quickly but firmly. The system is now in DTM 1.

- Count the number of times the LED flashes and write down the code. Press the button again to see if any more DTCs are stored. Codes will flash out in priority order When the DTC displayed first comes round again, this means there are no further DTCs.

- Deal with any faults, then erase DTCs.

Erasing Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

- Check you have read out all DTCs held in store. You cannot erase any DTC until all DTCs have been read out at least once and you come back to the first DTC.

- Hold the button down for at least five seconds, then release it. The LED will come on three seconds after you release the button.

- While the LED is on, press the button again. Hold it down for at least 5 seconds, then let it go. The LED will go out.

- Switch ignition off.

Checking Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) Are Erased

- Switch ignition on. Check that all DTCs have been erased by pressing the button quickly but firmly. If code 1-1-1 is obtained, this means all DTCs have been erased.

- If not all DTCs have been erased, repeat the procedure above from the start.

Exiting Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)

- Switch ignition off. Start car and drive at at least 40 km/h (25 mph). ABS warning indicator should go out.

- If ABS warning indicator does not go out, check to see if any new DTCs have been posted.

Diagnostic Test Mode 4 (DTM 4)

Manual Activation

- Switch ignition on.

- Select position 3 on DLC A.

- Press button four times, quickly but firmly. The system is now in DTM 4.

Entering Codes

Note: DTM 4 before each code.

Once the LED stays on, the system is ready for entering codes (see table).

- Enter the first digit while the LED is on.

- Wait until the LED stays on again before entering the second digit.

- Repeat the above for the third digit.

- Wait for the control module to confirm the input by flashing the LED rapidly a number of times in succession.
