Adjustment of child-proof locks in rear doors

In the upper position the lever that activates the child-proof locks on the back doors can scratch the paint above the lock striker plate in the C-post.

This service bulletin describes the adjustment of the child-proof actuator lever to prevent it from scratching the paintwork.

Adjustment of the child-proof lock lever

- Set the child-proof lock lever in the upper position.

- Bend the end of the lever about 2 mm (5/64") outward using a pair of pliers.

NOTE:
Hold the pliers away from the paintwork when bending the end of the lever outward!

- Check that the lever is working correctly and does not contact the door or the C-post when the door is opened or closed.

Re-touch the paintwork on the C-post if damaged, using the method described in Service Manual TP31600/1 Section 8(80) "Paint Repairwork" 200 and 700. This method also applies to 800 cars.
