REPLACEMENT OF SWITCH FOR INTERIOR/COURTESY LIGHTING

Remove the old switch.

- from lock unit, bend gently out in mounting pins and move the switch directly up from the guide pins that are located in the small holes.

- Note positions for corresponding cables at the connector.

- Cut off cables to switch. Fold cables and fasten to cable harness.

- Remove cables from connector.

- Cut off cable terminals.

- Fold the thicker black cable out of the way and the black-white cable with the narrowest black stripe, which connects to the switch you removed. Fasten them to the cable harness with tape.

- Strip off ends of the cables which have not been folded out of the way.

INSTALL NEW SWITCH

- with cables in the holder on the lock unit. Make a 3 mm (1/8 in) diameter hole in the rubber grommet and route cable through from the switch. Locate hole so that when installation is complete it is above the existing cable harness. The location of the new hole for cable routing applies both to front and rear doors (only a front door is shown in the illustration).

- crimp new cable terminals, one at a time and replace afterward in the same position as below:

On the front door cable terminal with P/N 965107-6 is used for both the black white cables in position 3 and both the black cables in position 14.

On the back door the yellow-red cable should be twisted with the black-white cable at position 2. Use cable terminal P/N 965107-6.

- Attach the new cables to the existing cable harness using electrician's tape.

- Use butyl tape to seal the new cable passage in the grommet.

- Install cover on lock, and lock in door according to operation description under F.

CHECK

- that the new cable grommet is above the old and is sealed with butyl tape to prevent moisture and clamp penetrating between the inner door and door panel.
