New extension piece for right front fender liner 850

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES 21-813 DATED MARCH 1994.

New extension piece for right front fender liner

Splashes of water may occasionally penetrate the space between the sub-frame and fender liner, resulting in intermittent accessory drive belt noise. A new liner extension piece has been produced to further improve protection against splashing. The new component (P/N 9154415-5), which replaces the earlier extension piece, is suitable for all 850s and was introduced on production models in January 1994. The earlier extension piece can be replaced by the new type.

Install extension piece on right front fender liner

Remove plastic nut (A) and bend out wing liner. Remove existing extension piece. Methods of attachment differ; pop rivets, if used, must be drilled out while other staples may be torn loose.

New component has four molded mounting tabs (B). Tabs should be located alternately on outside arid inside of liner.

Fit extension piece on fender liner and reinstall liner in position.

Push extension piece towards rear to position behind control arm mounting.

Refit plastic nut and check that extension piece is located securely.
