Supplement to Installation Instructions for spoiler on tailgate

This service bulletin describes the method for adjusting the distance of the spoiler from the tailgate and rear lamps as well as application of protective tape (P/N 1372770-6), to the upper section of the D pillars and the rear lamps for protection during installation.

The brackets supplied in the installation kit must be modified before attaching them to the tailgate.

Important!
When attaching the spoiler take care not to damage the rubber molding between the tailgate window and the tailgate. Make sure the spoiler is precisely centered on the car.

Modify brackets for tailgate spoiler

Grind off 3 mm on the edges of the brackets as shown.

Enlarge the opening by 2 mm so the edge does not contact the screws in the hinge (see illustration).

File down any sharp edges.

Paint the ground-down areas on the left and right brackets with black paint.

Install the brackets on the left and right sides as high up as possible (as far back as they will go when the tailgate is closed).

Cut out protective tape (P/N 1372770-6) using the template in this SB.

Install the protective tape on the upper section of the right and left D pillar and the tail light as shown in the illustration. Install the spoiler according to the instructions in the kit.

Important!
Check that the spoiler is precisely centered on the car. Do not damage the rubber molding between the window and the tailgate when attaching the spoiler.
