Diagnostic Trouble Code 1-3-1

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 1-3-1

Circuit: SET+ to 4T

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 1-3-1 is obtained when the SET+ button is activated with the selector in the ON position and when the control module receives voltage through terminal 4T the code is not obtained, the voltage is either constantly high (battery voltage 12V) or low (OV).

First check if there is any voltage to the selector. If any of the trouble codes 1-2-3,1-1-3 or 2-1-3 are received, it shows there is voltage to the selector. If none of the above codes are obtained, the voltage going into and out of the selector has to be checked.

If there is voltage during testing, check the voltage going into terminal 4T on the control base.

Check of voltage to selector connector

Voltage feed C1

Check first that fuse 28 for 15-feed is sound.

Remove steering wheel covers, which are held in place by Torx-screws, T15 above and T25 below.

Checking voltage to selector C2

Ignition ON.

The voltmeter connected between ground and terminal 2 in the selector connector should show battery voltage.

If not: check wire to the selector and that fuse 26 is sound.

Checking voltage to the selector in ON position C3

Ignition ON.

There is battery voltage as shown by C2. Voltmeter connected between ground and terminal 1 in the selector connector should show voltage when the selector is set to ON.

In the event of a fault, try with another selector.

As shown by C3 there is battery voltage; check there is voltage on terminal 5 on the selector, see below.

Checking voltage from selector C4

Ignition ON.

The voltmeter connected between ground and terminal 5 on the selector should show battery voltage when the SET+ button is depressed.

In the event of a fault: try with another selector.

There is battery voltage as shown by C4: check voltage to control module, see C5-C6 below.

Checking voltage to terminal 4T in the control module plinth

Remove control module C5

Remove cover from fuses and relay in the engine house. Remove control module of the cruise control.

Voltage feed C6

Ignition ON.

Selector set to ON. Press in the SET+ button. Voltmeter connected between ground and 4T should show battery voltage.

In the event of a fault: check wire from selector position 5 to position 4 on the control module base.

If the wire is OK; try with a new selector.
