Glass sunroof adjustment
In cases of wind noise in the sunroof area, the following procedure should be used to minimize this condition:
Sunroof height adjustment
(to be performed on closed sunroof)
Adjust height of sunroof at mounts (see illustration).
Front edge of sunroof should be 0-1.5 mm (0-0.06 in) below car roof (i.e. highest point of sunroof can be in line with car roof, and lowest 1.5 mm (0.06 in) below it).
Rear edge of sunroof should be 0-1.0 mm (0-0.04 in) above edge of roof.
Note:
Both of these measurements should be made 90.0 mm (3.5 in.) inboard of the side edges.
Procedure:
- Move panel to vent position
- Carefully pull rear edge of headliner at domelight downward and slide sunshade back enough to gain access to rear most sunroof panel screws
- Remove screws (8) securing panel and apply thread locking adhesive, p/n 1161053-2, to threads and re-start screws
- With panel in vent position, push panel forward and tighten left and right side center screws (A)
- Move panel to closed position
- Adjust front edge of panel to specifications and tighten screws
- Adjust rear edge of panel to specifications and tighten screws
- Carefully pull rear edge of headliner at domelight downward and slide sunshade forward
Note:
Be careful not to drop adjusting blocks (B) held in place by rear screws.
Before adjusting cables, cycle sunroof to open/close, vent/close position.
Note:
Before road testing, check that the cables are adjusted properly.
Adjust cables
Make sure that the line-up mark is opposite center of pin. If not, detach gear housing and adjust cables as required.
Road test at highway speeds.
If windnoise is excessive follow procedure for "Checking sunroof panel seal to body fit".
Checking sunroof panel seal to body fit
Procedure:
Clearance between the body and seal should be checked using a business card as a gauge to locate potential gaps.
Should it be necessary, shim this area using clear body tape, p/n 1189828-5.
Place the tape to the body side only and do not allow it to show above the sunroof seal.
Check link arm assembly
The addition of two wave washers, p/n 1128935-2, (A) will take up slack in the mechanism and provide smoother operation of the sun shade.
Note:
Do not grease or oil link arm assembly components as this may result in "chatter" during operation.
Wave washers must be installed with the convex surface facing outboard. If washers are installed backwards, a "chatter" condition may result when panel is moved from the vent to closed position.
Note:
Make sure rubber weatherstrip seal on the front edge of the rain gutter is in place.

Claims may be submitted under the New Car Limited Warranty six-month adjustment period using claim type: 01.
