Dismantling

Balance shaft housing, dismantling





Remove bolts in housing joint





Separate housing halves
Prise housing halves apart using heavy screwdriver inserted between projections at four points around joint.





Lift out balance shaft
Remove front sealing ring from shaft.





Remove sealing plate
Remove 0-ring from groove in sealing plate.





Remove bearing shells
Remove rear bearing shells from housing halves.





Clean housing and other components
Use solvent to remove remains of liquid sealing compound.

Carefully scrape surfaces clean using plastic putty knife.

Wipe components with degreasing agent and blow clean thoroughly with compressed air.





Inspect joint and bearing surfaces
