Lubrication of Balance Shafts

Lubrication of balance shafts

Oil under pressure is supplied to the rear balance shaft bearings, each of which is an extra heavy-duty shell type. The rear section of the shaft is subject to the highest stresses since the balance weights are located at that end.

The front bearing is machined in the housing and is lubricated by means of a channel formed by matching grooves formed in the two halves. The oil is discharged through an outlet in the bottom half.
