Modification of engine compartment wire harness when replacing dashboard wire harness

The original dashboard wire harness, P/N 6849469-9, used in 850 M/Y 1993, has been superseded by P/N 9142094-3.

The change occurred at the following chassis numbers:

Only the new dashboard wire harness, P/N 9142094-3, is available as a replacement part.

When replacing the original dashboard wire harness to the new one, the engine compartment harness must be modified in order to have radio function in ignition position I and II.

The tools and materials necessary to this Service Bulletin are included in terminal repair kit 9814235-9.

Modification

- Find connector 2412 (white) on the engine compartment wire harness.

- Remove the red-black wire in position 3, use tool 9814229-2.

- Connect wire to position 10 on connector 24/13 (red).

Due to the new wire routing, the wire is approx. 100 mm (4") longer than the old routing.

- Tape the excess to the wire harness.

The existing 14 pin adapter harness must be taped back and out of the way to prevent rattles.
