Modifying headliner for ECC in-car temperature sensor
Replacement headliners will no longer have an opening for the ECC in-car temperature sensor (A). Therefore, on vehicles with ECC, openings (C) must be made in the headliner for the left and right side sensors.
The headliner is delivered with fasteners for old type of grilles (B).
Making openings in the headliner
The openings are made in the raised sections (see picture) in the headliner upper side by punching with an 18 mm diameter punch (45/64" or approx 11/16") or by using a suitable knife.
Note:
The openings must be punched out before installing the headliner in the car.
Fitting grilles
Note:
Early and late type of grilles should be installed in different ways before installing headliner in the car.
Old type:
- cut off the steel clip, holding the grilles, from the headliner taken out from the car.
- move the grilles over to the new headliner
- fasten the grilles with the new clip delivered with the new headliner.
New type:
move the grilles from the old headliner over to the new headliner before installing in the car. Don't use the steel clip!
