DTM 3 (Function Test)

Inputs:

Press button on DLC 3 times to access DTM 3. The control module will now test some instruments by making them generate displays. This indicates whether the gauges are working or any of them are faulty. The control module activates the gauges simultaneously for 30 to 60 seconds. The LED stays on continuously throughout the test.





Things to check (see image):
- Fuel gauge should read 1/2 tank.
- Temperature gauge should just be on red (126 °C/259 °F)
- Speedometer needle should be vertical.
- The odometer should be activated equivalent to a distance of 500 m (500y), appears on trip meter.
- Tachometer needle should be vertical.

If the gauges are OK when tested but faulty on a test drive, this means the fault is somewhere in the leads and sensors connected to the instrument panel.

Manual Function Test:

- Switch ignition on.
- Select DLC A Terminal 7. General Information
- Push button three times, briefly but firmly.
You are now in DTM 3. The system will test the instruments as shown above.
- To end function test, switch ignition off or wait until test cycle is complete (1 minute).
