TITLE
1993 850 GLT Component Replacement
When used for warranty repairs certain components fitted to the 1993 850 GLT will require unit replacement rather than overhaul, should a repair be necessary following thorough diagnosis.
The areas of the vehicle affected are:
- ENGINE
Conditions involving the engine block (including bottom-end pistons and crank mechanism) will require replacement of the complete engine.
Repairs to the engine's cylinder head, upper and lower half, may be made with the specific component required.
- TRANSMISSION
Both manual and automatic transmissions will be replaced with new units if necessary. The final drive is integral with the units and would also require replacement, although output shaft seals can be replaced. Driveshaft CV Joints must be replaced as units. Replacement of the entire transmission final drive would not be required for repairs or adjustments to the following:
^ Oil Cooler Leak
^ Trans Range Sensor
^ Gearshift Cable
^ Gearshift Assembly
^ Oil Pan Leakage
^ Transmission Temp Sensor
^ Speed Sensors
^ Clutch Servo/Clutch Fork (Manual Transmission)
^ Clutch Disc/Throw Out Bearing (Manual Transmission)
^ Low Fluid - Level
- STEERING
Power steering racks must be replaced with new or exchange units.
- INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
The instrument cluster must be replaced as a unit.
PARTS RETURN
In order to properly follow-up on the quality level of 1993 850 GLT, parts designated for return under warranty should be shipped as quickly as possible. This will allow our Technical Material Analysis Department and factory engineers to identify, analyze, and communicate immediately to Quality Action Center in Ghent.
Volvo's Parts return system logic will not be changed from the current 45 day submission policy. However, we request your cooperation and ask that requested 850 GLT parts repaired/replaced on 850 GLT models are returned within 20 days of the Repair Order Date.
