Replacement of thermostat in electrically heated front seats

This information supplements the above referenced service manual on how to replace the thermostat in electrically heated front seats.

Removal/Installation or thermostat can be carried out without removing seat. The thermostat is within reach from backside of the seat.

Removal

Remove thermostat from seat by gently forcing the support washer toward rear of cushion thus spreading the foam opening. Then carefully hold front edge of the support washer and slide down through opening.

Installation





Insert thermostat in plastic support washer and reconnect leads.

To ensure thermostat and washer are located correctly between heating element and cushion, slide washer back through opening until washer passes above cushion. Then center support washer in opening making, sure that the 3 fingers are centered in the opening.





It is extremely important that thermostat and washer are seated flat between element and cushion to avoid marking seat fabric (see illustration).
