Owner Letter

November, 1992

Dear Volvo Owner

This letter is a follow up to our pledge to provide you with a product that offers the latest technology and ensures your driving satisfaction. There are two improvements we would like to make to your 1992 Volvo 960 series sedan or wagon.

It has come to our attention that in extreme cases, moisture build up in the engine speed sensor may lead to an intermittent hard start condition. An updated sensor has been developed that will eliminate this condition. We would like to install this component in your 960 at no charge to you.

Also, you were previously informed that the camshaft timing belt replacement interval had been changed from every 30,000 miles to every 20,000 miles. We have developed a means by which the original replacement interval of 30,000 miles can be sustained. A torsion damper will be installed, at no cost to you, in conjunction with the timing belt replacement at the 40,000 mile service. With the addition of the damper, your next timing belt replacement will be at the 70,000 mile service (due to the sustained 30,000 mile interval).

Please contact your authorized Volvo dealer at your earliest convenience to arrange for an appointment for the speed sensor replacement. Your dealer will make every effort to minimize your inconvenience during this procedure and when completed, your car will be cleaned and filled with gas.

I apologize for any inconvenience this matter may cause and appreciate your allowing us to perform this procedure. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please call us at 1-800-458-1552 or 201-767-4737 (8:00 to 7:00 PM Eastern Time.)
