Miscellaneous: This Service Bulletin replaces the earlier Service Bulletin 88-911 of Feb. 1995, which should be discarded.

Modifying airbag sensor (SRS), 780

Background:

When replacing collision sensor on 780 models, the airbag sensor cable harness must be modified and the wiring routing changed. Therefore only late version collision sensors will be stored as replacement parts.

The DTC table for the new collision sensor has been modified.

This Service Bulletin describes modification of wiring, cable routing and the modified DTC table In addition to the method in the Service Manual. Remove and install interior trim etc. according to basic method given in Service Manual Section 8 (88), SRS "Steering wheel airbag", (Supplementary Restraint System), 700 1987-19., and also in Service Bulletin 88-705, Replacing collision sensor, 700 1987-1988.

Leave the existing cable for the seat belt tensioners remain in place, but cut away connectors at the seat belt tensioners and at the center console.
