Ignition System

The control function #3 will allow you to test one or several output devices with help of the diagnostic socket.
The Bosch EZ-116K ignition system can check the EGR converter. This EGR converter is available on California market vehicles only. For information on the three different control functions or how to operate the diagnostic socket, see ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS under TESTING PROCEDURES.

Entering Control Function #2:





TESTING PROCEDURE:

1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Open the diagnostic socket cover and connect the selector cable to pin #6.

Entering Control Function #3:





3. Depress the button on the diagnostic socket three times.
Each time depress the button for at least 1 second but not more than 3 seconds.
4. Light diode starts flashing each time converter is activated. If diode doesn't flash, see EGR CONVERTER under COMPONENT TESTING.
5. If the EGR converter is in good operating condition and light diode doesn't work at all, see DIAGNOSTIC SOCKET under COMPONENT TESTING.
6. Turn ignition OFF.
7. Remove selector cable and close the diagnostic socket.
