Fuel Injection System

Entering Control Function #3:

CONTROL FUNCTION #3 tests the following output devices:
^ fuel injectors
^ idle air valve
^ cold start valve

Diagnostic Socket Pin #2:

TESTING PROCEDURE:

1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Open the diagnostic socket cover and connect the selector cable to pin #2.
3. Press the diagnostic socket button three times for at least 1 second but not more than 3 seconds.
4. The light diode should begin to flash. If light diode doesn't work at all, see DIAGNOSTIC SOCKET under COMPONENT TESTING.
5. While the light diode continues to flash with the same frequency, each of the following should begin to operate in this order:
a. The fuel injectors should operate. Listen for the "clicking" sound. If injectors don't operate, see FUEL INJECTORS under COMPONENT TESTING.
b. The idle air valve should operate. Listen for a "clicking" sound. If idle air valve doesn't operate, see IDLE AIR VALVE under COMPONENT TESTING.
c. The cold start injector should operate. Listen for the "clicking" sound.
6. Turn ignition OFF.
7. Remove selector cable and close the diagnostic socket.
