Seats - Replacement of Catch Pins, Springs and Runners

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO THE U.S. AND CANADA, AND SUPERSEDES 85-112 DATED 12/86.

Replacement of catch pins, springs and runners

New height adjustment catch pins, springs and new runners are available to minimize play in seat bottom adjustment pins. The new parts fit vehicles up to and including 1987 models.

runners: outer 1395356-7 1 inner 1395357-5 1

*The kit consists of 4 new tapered catch pins (which are yellow-chromed) and 4 improved return springs.



Work Sequence

Remove front seat

Remove screw at rear of storage compartment. Lift storage compartment and remove seat belt anchorage.



Remove:
- bolts at rear of runners
- bolts at front of runners (remove cover from outer bolt).

Lift up front of runner and disconnect electrical connectors beneath seat.



Remove front seat

Pull seat to rear and lift to release retaining lugs from runners.



Remove:
- storage compartment
- seat cushion (unhook cover clamps).



Engage catch pins in uppermost position


Remove all Allen screws



NOTE: Carry out following operations on one side of seat at a time.

Push down on seat and move height adjustment lever forwards.

Repeat at rear of seat and remove runners from frame.



Remove spring

Compress spring with a small screwdriver.

Remove spring and plastic retainer.



Remove catch pin

Press up catch pin holder with fingers. If catch pin is difficult to remove, use a small screwdriver.



Fit plastic retainer and push in new catch pin from outside.

Pull back holder when fitting catch pin.



Fit new spring onto plastic retainer.

Keep retainer in position and attach spring to catch pin. Check function.



Fit new runners

Fit runner to uppermost hole.



Place seat on other side

Fit spring rod and runner bracket.



Fit other new runner and secure to uppermost hole

Install:
-seat cushion -storage compartment.


Reinstall seat

Make sure that the retaining lugs engage properly.


Check runners

Make sure that the seat does not jam when moved forward/backward and that it is firmly secured by the runners.
