New seat runners for manually-operated seats
New front seat runners (rails) have been brought into production from the following chassis numbers:
740 4-door 289 120
5-door 173 791
760 4-door 056 393
5-door 022 703
New part numbers:
3521855-1 driver seat, outer runner 3521856-9 driver seat, inner runner 3521859-3 passenger seat, outer runner 3521860-1 passenger seat, inner runner
The new runners supersede all earlier runners including the ones mentioned in SB 85-8; July 1988.
Up to and including 1987 models:
The outer runner is bolted down at the front through a lift-up eyelet.
If it is necessary to fit a new runner to a pre-1987 model the following additional parts will be required:

Flanged Bolt (M10 x 20) 946441-3 1
Flanged Nut (M10) 971098-9 1
From 1988 models:
The front part of the runner is bolted down from above (the lift-up eyelet was taken out of production).
To install new runner
Remove front seats Remove runners from seats. Install new runners on seats.
NOTE: Attach cable ties to outer runners to properly locate cable harness.
Fold back carpet. Detach heater duct (see arrow) and move to one side to give sufficient space to place M10 nut below side member.
NOTE: Illustration shows left side only. The above applies to both left and right sides.
Install front seats.
Install heater duct. Fold back carpet. Install plastic covers on front part of runners. See above illustration.
During the New Car Warranty period, claims must be submitted under:
