Disassembling

NOTE: Special Tools Required: 5021, 5034, 5219. Do not place cylinder head on screws, tools etc.., as gasket surface may be damaged.

Remove Parts From Cylinder Head:




REMOVE PARTS FROM CYLINDER HEAD:
1. lifting eye.
2. thermostat housing and thermostat.
3. spark plugs.
4. intake manifold and belt tensioner, if not previously removed.
5. remove camshaft pulley, use counterhold 5034.

Camshaft Removal:




REMOVE CAMSHAFT:
1. Remove center cap.
2. Install press tool 5021 and depress camshaft.
3. Remove remaining four caps.
4. Remove press tool, camshaft and camshaft seal.

Cylinder Head And Tappets:




REMOVE TAPPETS:
1. remove the tappets (valve depressors) and adjusting shims.
2. remove rubber seals from valve stems.

Note: Place tappets (valve depressors) in order. They should not be interchanged.

Valve Removal:




Valve Stem Seal Removal:




REMOVE VALVE COMPONENTS:
1. valve locks.
2. upper valve washers.
3. valve springs.
4. lower spring washers.
5. valves.

Note: Do not interchange parts.

5. valve stem seals from intake valve guides. Use tool 5219.
