Engine Oil Cooler Pipes
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
• Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)
Removing
Return Pipe:
Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.
• The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.
• Cover the coolant reservoir tank cap with a cloth and then open it slowly to release the pressure in the system.
- Drain the high temperature coolant circuit. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling, High Temperature Coolant Circuit ] Draining and Filling, High Temperature Coolant Circuit.
- Remove the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.
- Place the drip tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208) under the engine.
- Reposition the clamp - arrow -, remove the hose from the engine oil cooler and let the coolant drain.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and the coolant pipe. Loosen the hose clamp - 3 -.
- Tip the coolant pipe to the left slightly - arrow - and remove it from the upper coolant hose.
Supply Pipe:
- Remove the left engine mount. Refer to => [ Left Engine Mount ] Left Engine Mount.
- Remove the left engine mount bracket bolts - arrows - and the engine mount bracket.
- Reposition the clamp - 1 -, remove the coolant hose from the engine oil cooler and remove bolt and coolant pipe.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Coolant Pipes Overview.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:
• Replace the O-rings.
• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps that are specific to that model. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
- Clean or smooth the O-ring sealing surface before installing.
- Lubricate the O-ring with coolant and slide it onto the coolant pipe.
- Install the engine mount. Refer to => [ Engine Carrier, Engine Mount and Engine Mount Bracket Overview ] Engine Carrier, Engine Mount and Engine Mount Bracket Overview.
- Install the A/C compressor.
- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.
- Fill the high temperature coolant circuit. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling, High Temperature Coolant Circuit ] Draining and Filling, High Temperature Coolant Circuit.
