Selector Shaft Lever Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Sleeve (VW 423)

• Pulling Hook (T20143)

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

- Remove the selector lever cable from the transmission.

- Remove the nut - arrow - and carefully pry the lever - A - off the selector shaft.






- Pry out the seal in the - direction of the arrow -.






- Fill the area between the sealing and dust lips - arrow - halfway with sealing grease for seal (G 052 128 A1).






- Lightly lubricate the outer circumference of the seal.

- Install the new seal until seated. Do not tilt the seal.






• The closed side of the seal - arrow - faces the sleeve (VW 423).

- Install the lever and tighten the nut to 20 Nm.

The selector shaft lever fits on the splines in one position only.

- Attach the selector lever cable to the transmission. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
