Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine Support Bridge (10-222 A)

Engine Support Adapter (10-222 A/3)

Adapter (10-222 A/18)

Bracket for Engine (10-222 A/1)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)


When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

Route all wires and lines so that the original path is followed.

Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.

- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.

- Remove the intake hose from between the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor and the adapter.


Electronic components could be destroyed when the battery is disconnected:

Follow the required steps when disconnecting the battery.

- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground cable - arrow - from the battery.






- Remove the battery, the battery tray bolts - arrows - and tray.






- Remove the auxiliary fuel pump/fuel pump 2 (the fuel supply lines remain connected).

- Install the engine support bridge (10-222 A) with the necessary special tools as illustrated and support the engine in its installed position.






The engine/transmission mount bolts may only be loosened when the engine is supported with the engine support bridge (10-222 A).
