Backrest Release and Cable







Backrest Release and Cable

Removing and installing the right backrest is described. Removing and installing the left backrest is identical.

Removing

- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to => [ Bench Seat ] Bench Seat.

Do not press the rear seat backrests onto the center backrest mounting! To prevent damage to the backrest cover, place a foam piece or similar material between the backrest mounting and the backrest!

- Remove the luggage compartment carpet. Refer to => [ Luggage Compartment Carpet ] Luggage Compartment Carpet.

- Remove the rear dual seat belt latch. Refer to => [ Rear Seat Dual Belt Latch ] Rear Seat Dual Belt Latch.

- Remove the C-pillar trim. Refer to => [ C-pillar Trim ] C-pillar Trim.

- Remove side trim. Refer to => [ Side Trim ] Side Trim.

- Fold the side luggage compartment trim panel toward the rear.

- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest

- Remove the attachment and the backrest upholstery. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Upholstery ] Backrest Cover and Upholstery

- Remove the adhesive foil near the cable on the backside of the backrest.






- Remove the bolts - 1 - on the backside of the backrest (3 Nm).

- Remove the bolt - 2 - on the front side of the backrest (3 Nm).

- Remove the lock and the release cable - 3 - from the backrest shell.

Release cable is not designed to be disconnected from the release.

- Unclip the release cable - 6 - from the mount - 5 -.

- Unhook the release cable hooks - 4 -.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- It is not possible to adjust the release cable.
