Observe notes for threaded connections of battery terminals. Refer to => [ Battery Post/Terminal ] Battery Post/Terminal.

After connecting the battery and switching on the ignition, the ASR/ESP indicator lamp (K155) lights up continuously. The indicator lamp goes out automatically when vehicle is driven a distance straight ahead at 15 to 20 km/h. This activates Steering Angle Sensor (G85).


When disconnecting and connecting battery, the procedure must be followed as described in the Repair Information.






- Connect battery terminal clamps - 2 - and - 3 - of the battery bridge to the corresponding battery poles and tighten the screws to 6 Nm. Refer to => [ Battery Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.

- Connect battery terminal clamp - 1 - of the positive wire to the positive pole of the left starter battery and tighten the screw to 6 Nm. Refer to => [ Battery Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.

- Connect battery terminal clamp - 4 - of the ground wire to the negative pole of the right starter battery and tighten the screw to 6 Nm. Refer to => [ Battery Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.

- Perform the work procedures in the table.
