Roof Insulation/Reinforcements

• An exemplary sedan without sunroof is shown in the following description.

Removal

Sedan

- Disconnect vehicle battery.

- Remove the front and rear interior and reading lamps in the headliner.

- Remove storage compartment with console in headliner. Refer to => [ Storage Compartment with Console in Headliner ] Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim

- Remove upper trim on A-pillars. Refer to => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Pillar Trim

- Remove sun visors.

• Basic: => [ Basic Sun Visors ] Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim

• Double: => [ Double Sun Visors ] Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim

- Remove roof grab handle.

- Remove upper B-pillar trim. Refer to => [ Upper B-Pillar Trim ] Pillar Trim

- Remove trim on C-pillars, sedan:

• Vehicles without sun shade: => [ C-Pillar Trim without Sun Shade ] Pillar Trim

• Vehicles with sun shade: => [ C-Pillar Trim with Sun Shade ] Pillar Trim

- Remove roof end strip. Refer to => [ Roof End Strip ] Roof End Strip

Vehicles in which an interior rearview mirror with rain sensor is installed:

- Remove the side cover caps from the interior rearview mirror: => [ Interior Rearview Mirror with Rain Sensor ] Interior Rearview Mirror

- Remove headliner, sedan => [ Molded Headliner ] Molded Headliner

Passat CC

- If equipped, open the Panorama sunroof.

- Switch off ignition.

- Remove the front interior and reading lights.

- Remove the roof grab handles on vehicles without Panorama sunroof.

- Remove upper trim on A-pillars. Refer to => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Pillar Trim

- Remove the upper B-pillar trim from the brackets. Refer to => [ Upper B-Pillar Trim from Mount ] Pillar Trim.

- Remove visors. Refer to => [ Basic Sun Visors ] Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim.

- Remove the C-pillar trim:

• Vehicles not equipped with a sun shade: => [ C-Pillar Trim without Sun Shade ] Pillar Trim

• Vehicles equipped with a sun shade: => [ C-Pillar Trim with Sun Shade ] Pillar Trim

- Lower the headliner. Refer to => [ Headliner ] Headliner

- Cut roof insulation/reinforcements - 1 - in direction of travel in strips approx. 6 cm wide - 2 - using a carpet knife.

- Pull off strips - 2 - from roof.

- Cut back adhesive residue - 3 - using (V.A.G 1561 A) and (V.A.G 1561/20) - 4 -.

• If paint structure was damaged while removing roof insulation/reinforcements, paint damage must be repaired.





Installation

• Processing instructions of adhesive must be observed when installing roof insulation/reinforcements.

- Apply adhesive D 190 MKD A3 on to insulation/reinforcements using (V.A.G 1628).

- Dimension - a - = 67 ± 2 mm

- Dimension - b - =34 ± 5 mm

- Dimension - c - = 23± 5 mm

- Transport roof insulation/reinforcements into vehicle and press on to roof over the entire surface.
