Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Replacement part number for radio navigation system is located on a sticker on the radio navigation system housing.

Deactivate the anti-theft coding when replacing the radio. Refer to => [ Electronic Anti-Theft
System, Deactivating ] RNS 510.

Removing

- If there is a CD/DVD still in the unit, remove it. Refer to the Operating Instructions.

- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

- Remove the upper cover and vents from the center of the instrument panel. The screws under the center console should now be accessible.

- Remove screws - arrows - (1.5 Nm).






- Pry off the cover in the center console using a (3409) - arrows -.






- Remove the screws - arrows - (1.5 Nm) on the radio/navigation display unit control module.






- Pull the radio/navigation display unit control module out of the installation slot just far enough until the connectors on the back are accessible.

- Press together the connector lock in direction of - arrows -.






- Then swing mounting bracket up in direction of - arrow - and disconnect harness connector.






- Disconnect the connectors - arrows - from the antenna connections.






Installing

- Connect the connectors to the radio/navigation display unit control module.

- Install the v into the instrument panel.

Never push on the display or the buttons on the radio/navigation display unit control module when installing it. It will be damaged.

- Attach the radio/navigation display unit control module with 4 screws - arrows - (1.5 Nm).






- Install the cover in the center console.

- Deactivate the anti-theft coding. Refer to => [ Electronic Anti-Theft
System, Deactivating ] RNS 510.

- Check the radio/navigation display unit control module coding. Code it again if necessary. Refer to => [ RNS 510 Components, Adapting ] RNS 510 Components, Adapting.
