Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213)
Procedure
• The cylinder bank 1 (right) Secondary Air Injection (AIR) combination valve is shown in the illustration. The procedure is the same for cylinder bank 2 (left).
• Hose connections properly sealed.
- Remove front engine cover in - direction of arrow - if applicable.
- Disconnect the air guide hose - 1 - and connect a suitable assisting hose to the AIR combination valve.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose - 2 - and connect the hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213).
- Blow into the assisting hose using light pressure (do not use pressurized air).
• AIR combination valve must be closed, it must not be possible to blow through.
- Set the slide ring - 1 - on hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) to position - A - for " vacuum".
- Operate hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213).
• The AIR combination valve must open, it must be possible to blow through.
If combination valve does not open:
- Replace AIR combination valve.
