Crankshaft Gear/Sprocket: Service and Repair
Crankshaft Sensor Wheel, Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench (VAG 1331)
• Locking compound (D 154 100 A1)
Procedure
Make sure the crankshaft/sensor wheel contact surface is free of oil and grease.
• Sensor wheel may only be installed once, since attachment points - arrows - of the countersunk bolts - 1 - in sensor wheel - 2 - are so severely deformed after mounting the second time that bolt heads make contact on the crankshaft - 3 - and sensor wheel lies loosely under the bolt heads.
- Apply a thin coat of Locking compound (D 154 100 A1) to the contact surfaces of crankshaft and sensor wheel for additional security.
- When installing, make sure that marking -VR6- - arrow - stands at individual threaded hole.
- Tighten all new bolts lightly by hand.
- Then tighten bolt - 1 - to 10 Nm + 90° (1/4 rotation).
- Then tighten bolts - 2 - to 10 Nm + 90° (1/4 rotation).
