Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051) or Vehicle Diagnosis & Service Syst. (VAS 5052)
• Drip Tray For VAS6100 (VAS 6208)
• Adapter For Oil Filling (VAS 6262)
• Protective glasses
• Protective gloves
- First determine whether a coded radio is installed. In this case, determine anti-theft coding.
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) cable with ignition switched off.
- Remove power steering refill tank from battery console, do not kink hoses while doing this.
- Connect refill tank to lock carrier.
- Remove battery
- Disconnect intake hose - 1 - and connector - 2 - from Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
- Remove bolts - 3 - and - 4 -.
- Remove air filter completely.
- Remove nut - arrow - and set hydraulic line - 1 - to the side.
- Remove filter housing - 2 -.
- Before removing filter housing - 1 - from transmission, tip it slightly in its seating.
This allows oil to flow back into transmission from filter housing.
• Always replace O-ring - 2 -.
- Remove filter - 3 -.
• An O-ring is located in suction collar of filter. Make sure that it does not remain hanging in the transmission, remove old O-ring if necessary.
- Coat new O-ring - 2 - with transmission oil.
- Coat O-ring in suction collar - arrow - of new filter with transmission oil.
- Insert new filter with suction collar - arrow - downward and tighten filter housing to 20 Nm.
- Install hydraulic line - 1 - with nut - arrow -.
- Install battery and battery console.
- Install power steering refill tank on battery console, do not kink hoses while doing this.
- Install complete air filter housing.
- Connect battery and observe safety precautions after connecting battery.
