Gear Lock For 5TH Gear and Reverse Gear, Checking and Replacing

Gear lock for 5th gear and reverse gear, checking and replacing, 01A, 5 SPD. M/T (AWD)





^ Remove cover plate - arrow 2 - above right drive axle.
^ Press down cover plate - arrow 1 - above right drive axle.





^ Remove gear lock - arrow -.
^ Checking and assembling gear lock:





^ Insert spring - 1 - into housing - 2 - and, while applying light pressure turn spring to left until it locks into base of housing.
^ Insert bushing - 3 - onto spring so that bent end of spring locates into groove properly.
^ Push bushing - 3 - against spring and turn approximately one turn until lug on bushing aligns with groove in housing - 2 - Press bushing - 3 -into groove in housing - 2 - to stop.
^ Rotate bushing - 3 - clockwise and release; bushing - 3 - jumps into installation position. Installation position of bushing:





^ Tab - arrow A - of bushing must always be opposite groove - arrow B - of housing.
