Valve Body, Disassembly and Assembly Sequence (Transmission With Hydraulic Control E17)



Valve body, disassembly and assembly sequence (transmission with hydraulic control E17), 01V, 5 SPD. A/T (AWD)

Removing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drip tray V.A.G. 1306:




Torque wrench 550 Nm V.A.G. 1331:





^ Observe general repair notes.





^ For vehicles with auxiliary heater, remove bolts - arrows - from exhaust pipe at noise insulation.





^ Remove noise insulation - arrows A and B -.
^ For vehicles with noise insulation - D -, remove bolts - arrows C -.
^ Place drip tray V.A.G. 1306 underneath.





^ Remove drain plug - arrow -.
^ Drain ATF.
^ Loosen the oil pan bolts in a diagonal pattern and remove oil pan.





^ Unscrew the two oil strainer bolts - arrows -.
^ Pull off oil strainer from valve body.





^ Pry off securing clamp - arrow - from connector for wiring harness.





^ Disconnect connector - arrow - from Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) G38.
^ Only remove bolts designated by an arrow from valve body.





Bolt - arrow A - is shorter than the other bolts.
^ Do not remove any other bolts. By doing this, function of valve body is impaired.
^ Remove valve body from transmission and guide out connector from wiring harness.
^ Do not lay valve body on Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor G 182 on rear side.

Installing
^ Coat new O-rings on connector for wiring harness with ATF.





^ Insert connector with flat part - arrow A - facing toward oil pan into transmission housing.
^ Align valve body to hole in transmission housing - arrow C - using alignment pin - arrow B -.





^ Set valve body in place while placing bolt of notched disc - 1 - into the groove of the selector register - 2 -.
^ Tighten bolts for valve body - arrows - hand-tight.





Bolt - arrow A - is shorter than the other bolts.
^ Tighten bolts to tightening torque starting from inside toward outside.





^ Connect connector - arrow - to Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) G38.





^ Press on securing clamp - arrow - of connector for wiring harness until retaining tab engages.
^ Coat seal on suction collar of oil strainer with ATF.
^ Carefully press suction collar of oil strainer into the opening at valve body up to stop.





^ Bolt oil strainer on and tighten bolts - arrows -.
^ Insert oil pan with a new gasket.
^ Tighten oil pan bolts in diagonal sequence and in stages.
^ Tighten new drain plug.
^ Add ATF, check ATF level and top off.
