Side Mounted Turn Signals In Front Quarter Panels, Removing and Installing

NOTE:
- New Beetle Sedan from 06.99 through m.y. 2003 have side mounted turn signals mounted in the front quarter panels.
- Side mounted turn signals can only be removed from the vehicle interior.
- Light emitting diodes (LED) with a long service life are installed in the side mounted turn signals, instead of normal bulbs.
- The complete turn signal must be replaced if damaged.

Removing

CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.

- Remove inner plenum panel cover:
- Remove dust and pollen filter (right-hand side only)







- Pull rubber grommet -3- off.
- Disconnect electrical connector.







- Remove screws -1- (screws are secured against falling out).
- Pull side mounted turn signal out outwards.

Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
