Shift mechanism, checking, 02E, 6 SPD. DSG A/T
- The starter must not operate in the selector lever positions "S", "D", "R" and in Tiptronic position.
- At speeds greater than 5 km/h and shifting selector lever position to "N", the shift lock solenoid must not engage and block the selector lever. The selector lever can be shifted into gear.
- At speeds of less than 5 km/h (almost a standstill) and shifting selector lever into position "N", the shift lock solenoid may only engage after approximately 1 second. The brake pedal must be pressed before the selector lever can be shifted out of position "N".

Selector lever in position "P", button selector lever pressed and ignition switched on:
- Brake pedal not pressed:
- With button pressed, selector lever is locked and cannot be shifted out of position "P". Selector lever is blocked by shift lock solenoid.
- Brake pedal pressed:
- Shift lock solenoid releases selector lever. Gear can be engaged. Slowly shift selector lever from position "P" through positions "R, N, D, S" and in doing so check whether selector lever position displayed in instrument cluster coincides with selector lever position.

Selector lever in position "N", button on selector lever pressed and ignition switched on:
- Brake pedal not pressed:
- Selector lever is locked and cannot be shifted out of position "N". Selector lever is blocked by shift lock solenoid.
- Brake pedal pressed:
- Shift lock solenoid releases selector lever. Gear can be engaged.

Selector lever in position "D", ignition and lights switched on:
- Move selector lever to Tiptronic gate:
- "D" symbol illumination in selector lever display must go out and "+" and "-" symbols must light.
- On moving selector lever into Tiptronic gate, selector lever display in instrument cluster must change from "PRNDS" to "654321".
- Shift selector lever in Tiptronic gap to "+" and "-":
- When switching selector lever respectively to "+" or "-" the display "654321" in the instrument cluster must show one gear higher or lower (display changes).
- Checking and adjusting selector lever cable.
- Checking ignition key removal lock.
