Selector lever cable, checking and adjusting, 02E, 6 SPD. DSG A/T

Checking





- Remove intake hose -1- and disconnect connector -2- from mass air flow sensor.
- Remove bolts -3- and -4-.
- Remove complete air cleaner.
- Move selector lever to position "P".





- Remove lock washer -1-.
- Remove selector lever cable -3- from selector shaft lever and place on top.

Note: Do not loosen bolt -2-.

- Place selector lever cable away but ensure that the end can still move freely.

Note: Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

- Shift selector lever from "P" to "S".
- Check for damage to shift mechanism boot at selector lever cable at front and replace cable if necessary.
- Shift selector lever to "P".
- Selector mechanism and selector lever cable must move freely when changing gear. If necessary, replace selector lever cable or service selector mechanism.





- Install selector lever cable -3- carefully onto selector shaft lever.
- Install lock washer -1- and lock.

Adjusting selector lever cable
- Shift selector lever to "P".





- Remove bolt -2-.
- Move selector/lever shaft at transmission to position "P".
- Turn both front wheels in one direction, (e.g. by pushing vehicle forward), until locking lever in transmissions engages into parking lock and wheels lock up (can not be moved together in one direction).

Note: With clamping bolt -2- loosened, the selector lever must remain in position "P" otherwise the adjustment is incorrect.

- Carefully move selector lever forward and backward slightly without shifting to a different selector lever position.
- Tighten bolt -2- smoothly (13 Nm).

Note: When tightening bolt -1- make sure position of selector lever cable does not change again.

Check selector lever cable adjustment
- With button pressed, pull selector lever approximately 5 mm to rear out of position "P" and hold in this position (do not shift to "R").
- Release selector lever.
- Selector lever must spring back in position "P" on its own, if necessary adjust selector lever.
- Shift selector lever to "N".
- With button pressed, pull selector lever approximately 5 mm to rear out of position "N" and hold in this position (do not shift to "D").
- Release selector lever.
- Selector lever must return automatically to position "N".
- Adjust selector lever if necessary.
- With button pressed, press selector lever approximately 5 mm to front out of position "N" and hold in this position (do not shift to "R").
- Release selector lever.
- Selector lever must return automatically to position "N".
- Adjust selector lever if necessary.
- Check shift mechanism.
