Components of ABS System on Rear Axle (Vehicles With AWD)






Components of ABS system on rear axle (vehicles with All Wheel Drive), removing and installing
1 - Drive shaft with rotor
^ Check for damaged or dirty rotor
2 - ABS speed sensor
^ Before inserting sensor, clean inner surface and coat with lubricating paste G 000 650
3 - Sealing cuff
4 - Clamping sleeve
^ Always replace
^ Left and right hand identical
^ Coat circumference with grease, before inserting into wheel housing G 000 650
^ Push into wheel bearing housing up to stops
5 - Wheel bearing/hub module
6 - Hex bolt
^ Always replace each time after removing
Removing and installing speed sensor on rear axle (vehicles with All Wheel Drive)
Removing
^ Remove rear seat.





^ Unscrew and remove screws from side trim (arrows).





^ Unscrew screw from side trim (arrow).
^ Lift side trim and open cable tie behind it.





^ Disconnect ABS wheel speed sensor harness connector -arrow A- and push out grommet -arrow B-.
^ Loosen wheel bolts.
^ Raise vehicle.
^ Remove wheel.
^ Pull ABS wheel speed sensor from wheel bearing housing.





^ Unclip ABS wheel speed sensor wiring from retainers (arrows).





^ Unscrew retainer -1- from ABS wheel speed sensor wire (arrows).

Installing
^ Before installing new ABS wheel speed sensor replace clamping sleeve.
^ Before installing ABS wheel speed sensor, clean inner surface of bore hole and coat ABS wheel speed sensor with solid lubricant paste G 000 650.
^ Push ABS wheel speed sensor into wheel bearing housing by hand.

Checking, removing and installing rotor on rear axle
^ Raise vehicle.
^ Remove wheel.
^ Pull speed sensor out of wheel bearing housing.
^ Check for damaged or dirty rotor.
^ If rotor is damaged, remove drive axle with rotor and replace drive axle with outer constant velocity joint.
