Housing For Control Modules In Plenum, Removing And Installing


CAUTION!
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system :
- Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
- After reconnecting battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio.


Removing

- Remove cap in windshield cowl panel under the left wiper arm (move wiper arm if necessary).







- Remove screw for housing cover underneath cowl panel as illustrated.
- Remove remaining screws -arrows- and take off housing cover.
- Remove Engine Control Module (ECM). (If necessary, remove eight position auxiliary relay panel and fuse panel).
- Disconnect all electrical connectors at connector station.
- Slide rubber grommet and wiring harness for engine controls up and out of slot in housing.
- Remove nuts -A-, 4 Nm (35 in lb).
- Push housing to rear (into plenum) to disengage from retainer bracket -B- and remove housing.

Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal.

Installation Notes:







- Always replace gasket -C-. Do not allow gasket to block or interfere with opening in plenum for harnesses.
- When installing cover for housing, engage into tab and press firmly into place by hand first. Cover screws MUST be torqued to 4 Nm (35 in lb)
