Selector Mechanism, Removing and Installing


Shift mechanism, removing and installing

Removing
- Check whether a coded radio is installed. If this is the case obtain the anti-theft coding.
- Move selector lever to position "P".
- With ignition switched off disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Remove selector lever knob.
- Remove center console.
- Disconnect printed circuit board connector.





- Carefully pry frame -1- up at four corners (arrows) and remove.





- Lift locking lever-1- in direction of (arrow -A-) and pull locking cable -2off selector mechanism in direction of (arrow -B-).
- Disconnect connection -3-.





- Unscrew nuts (arrows -A-) and remove bracket -1-.
- Remove bolt (arrow -B-).





- Remove bolts/screws (arrows).





- Lift shift mechanism slightly up and remove selector cable -1-.
- Remove shift mechanism.

Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence. Note the following:
- Do not bend or kink selector lever cable.
- Do not grease ball sockets of selector lever cable.
- Hook locking cable into selector mechanism locking lever.
- Adjusting locking cable.
- Checking function of ignition key withdrawal lock.





- Position cover -1- carefully onto selector mechanism and lock in position using retaining tabs (arrows) (Qty 4).
If retaining tabs (arrows) are damaged the cover must be replaced complete.
- Connect all connections.
- Install center console.
- Install selector lever knob.
- Connect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Adjusting selector lever cable.
- Enter radio code.
- Initialize electric power windows, set correct time on clock.
